Grant application deadline has been extended to October 31, 2014

Completed Application Packets must be received and time stamped by 4:30p.m.

A couple of key points taken directly from the Grant Application Handbook:

  • Private business owners, as well as Tax-Exempt organizations, are eligible for grant funding

  • Projects must take place within an unincorporated area of East Kern County that has a Visioning Plan completed or in process

  • The total requested grant amount may not exceed $10,000 per grant application

  • Eligible projects include:

Signs - Painting - Landscaping - Awnings - Fencing - Windows - Façade Improvements - Infrastructure Improvements

October Calendar of Events


Teen Book Club

 1st & 3rd Mondays @ 3:00 pm


The Teen Book Club will be led by Alex @ the Mojave Library.


The target age range is 12 – 18 (please inquire for age exceptions).


The book will be chosen by those who attend the first Teen Book Club meeting!


Following the Book Club meeting there will be a snack and activity!


So, come on out to the Mojave Library and join us for a good read!



 Preschool Storytime

 Every Wednesday at 10:30 am


Come on out with your preschooler and enjoy some

stories, songs, rhymes, activities, and crafts!


Every 5 books you check out after storytime earns you 1 ticket for entry

in the picture book giveaway of the month.

Barks & Books

 Wednesday, October 15th @ 3:30 pm


Once a month local therapy dogs will visit the library!


The Mojave Branch Library is partnering with Therapy Dogs International and the High Desert Obedience Club to provide a new program called Barks & Books.


Children may read to therapy dogs in the library.


This is a perfect program for hesitant readers, bashful children, children who

have a difficulty reading out loud, or any child who loves animals!


Come to the library with your children to read with a furry friend!


 LEGO Club Program

  2nd and 4th Wednesdays at 4:00 pm


Wednesday, October 8th (Theme: Trucks & Cars)

Wednesday, October 22nd (Theme: Robots)


  Come create and build using Mojave Branch Library’s LEGOs!

Build a creation based on the theme or build anything from your imagination!

Staff will display creations for the following week for all who come to the library to see!


Children under 6 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
